alright since 6 is probably getting pushed back again (lets be honest here) we got time to kill, so whats the very first thing youre doing the second the game finally lets you off the leash?

for me its exploring the city, ideally in some beat up rusty junker. back in gta4 i basically locked myself in Broker and just wandered around on foot for ages, and it let my head fill in what the rest of Liberty City was gonna be like, that skyline always sitting there in the distance messing with me. i never once got that feeling in 5. so im gonna hold off on seeing Vice City for as long as the game actually lets me.

what about you lot, whats first?

gonna cruise the keys and get a feel for the driving, bump into a few things, then just stand outside Jasons stilt house and go finally, were here, while the waves do their thing in the background.

im gonna stalk somebody. no wait, hear me out. i wanna know how much actual life a random npc has. tail them from a distance so i dont spook them and just watch. do they hold a job. do they head home at some point. do they hop on a bus. can they go buy food or clothes. thats the stuff im dying to find out.

explore the local area, and i mean LOCAL. like just the street or the house im stood in the second the game hands me control, same as Franklins aunts place after the opening in 5.

flip into first person if its there and stare at all the tiny details. walk around being polite to npcs cause i dont wanna pick up a wanted level five minutes in, poke my nose into whatever i can. then a little drive round the block, flick through the radio, feel out the handling. after all that, ok fine, story time.

hold off on seeing Vice City for as long as the game lets me

i keep forgetting the games meant to open in the Keys (going off Jasons bio) and not Port Gellhorn like half of us assumed for the last two or three years lol

the game opens in the Keys

see thats the thing, we dont actually KNOW that. back in 2012 everyone was dead sure wed open as Michael, meet Franklin, then get Trevor. then boom, we start as Franklin. i reckon theres a real chance we open on Lucia and the prologue is her leading into a prison stretch. idk though.

me, im gonna drive around til i find whatever this games version of a greasy waffle diner is, sit outside and sigh like an idiot. i always tell myself ill let the story walk me places at its own pace, and then my itch to explore ruins it every single time.

hadnt even thought about it til i read this thread, but yeah, im killing the whole hud and the minimap and just wandering with zero clue how the map is laid out. i want that lost in a brand new city feeling for as long as it lasts.

maybe ill be locked up and wont have a choice

honestly for all our sakes i hope you ARE locked in. not really because of your wish, more because thats exactly how id want them to design the opening anyway.

straight to the beach, cranking the radio and probably tearing up a bit, entirely depends whether the neighbours are around to hear it. then ill go hunt for whatever in game car comes closest to a boring old Volvo lol

ill do a handful of story missions to open up some features and then dip into side stuff and exploring for a good while.

every now and then ill save, go on a full blown rampage til i die, then reload, so that in MY canon Jason and Lucia arent a pair of maniacs.

step one, sit on the pause menu and just let the main theme play for a solid ten minutes. after that im off to hunt down some specific old barge of a sedan and try to keep it safe in my garage for the rest of the playthrough.

car spotting, 100 percent. theres a whole bunch of motors ive clocked in the leaks and trailers that i cannot wait to find spawning in traffic. bonus, this game basically completes the holy trinity of cars my family used to own lol.

my favourite thing about this whole thread is that nearly every answer boils down to i just wanna exist in the world. nobody in here is screaming about dirtbike jumps through walls of fire while chucking grenades into a crowd. everyone just wants to sit on a beach and watch the day roll by.

once im past the intro missions i just wanna go slow and soak up the atmosphere. dig through every detail in the first safehouse, put something on the in game tv, scroll the fake social media, then cruise the starting area a bit and check out the radio stations.

i just want to exist in the world

ill be right there next to you. sit in a parked car, radio on, and watch the world roll past while the sun goes down. ive done that in every gta since forever, ill always find a quiet spot and just take it all in.
